Summertime Aromatherapy

There are a number of essential oils that are especially effective for deterring mosquitoes and other summertime insects. You might want to take note of the following ones: Lemongrass, Peppermint, Tea tree, Lavender, Thyme, Eucalyptus Radiata.

Here are some of the ways you can these oils for repelling insects:

– Use one or the mixture of the above oils undiluted in a diffuser;

– Topical application: add 1 drop of the above oil (or their mixture) to 1 teaspoon of aloe vera gel (you can also use light body lotion), mix gently and apply to exposed skin before going outside in the evening;

– Add a few drops of the above oil to a box of napkins, or on cotton pads, and leave near windows / doors (or place next to you if you are outside).
